We cultivate rare botanical specimens and handcrafted garden accessories for those who see gardening as a form of living artistry. Every plant, a story. Every garden, a sanctuary.
ECOGARDENNEST
Our Philosophy
Where the ancient wisdom of the earth meets the quiet luxury of a life well-tended
At ECOGARDENNEST, we believe that a garden is not merely a collection of plants — it is a living, breathing expression of intention. We source each specimen with the care of a bibliophile selecting rare manuscripts, guided by the conviction that beauty and sustainability are not in opposition, but in harmony.
Our roots trace back to a small greenhouse in the Orissan countryside, where founder Meera Nair learned from her grandmother that every seed holds within it the memory of every garden it has ever grown in. That inheritance — equal parts patience and wonder — remains the foundation of everything we do.
From heirloom seeds to hand-thrown ceramic planters, from cold-pressed botanical oils to our curated gardening journal, each offering is chosen to deepen your relationship with the living world around you. We do not sell products. We offer invitations — into slowness, into soil, into the radical act of tending something.

The Garden Manifesto
To tend a garden is to believe in tomorrow
In a world of acceleration, we choose the rhythms of soil and season. We plant not for instant gratification, but for the patient joy of witnessing something grow beyond ourselves — to offer shade to those who will sit beneath our trees long after we have gone.
This is the philosophy that shapes every seed we select, every ceramic we fire, every word we write in our seasonal journal. We are cultivators of the long view.

"A garden shop that understands what a garden truly is"
The heritage Monstera arrived better packaged than any plant I have ever received — surrounded by moss, wrapped in unbleached muslin, with a handwritten note about its lineage. It felt like receiving a letter from a friend.
— Ananya R., Bangalore
I ordered the Orissan planter without expecting much. When it arrived, I sat with it for ten minutes just turning it in the light. The glaze is extraordinary. This is the kind of craft that makes you want to slow down.
— Dev K., Mumbai
The heirloom seed box introduced me to varieties I could not find anywhere else. The history cards changed how I think about gardening — suddenly I am participating in something centuries old.
— Sunita P., Bhubaneswar

Our Story
Born from a single pot of soil on a grandmother's veranda
ECOGARDENNEST began not with a business plan, but with a grief and a seed. When founder Meera Nair returned to Bhubaneswar after her grandmother's passing, she found the old woman's garden still thriving — untended for three months, yet stubbornly, beautifully alive.
In that garden, Meera found not just solace but a vocation. She spent two years apprenticing with botanists, potters, and seed-savers across Odisha, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu before founding ECOGARDENNEST in 2019 with the conviction that the garden is one of humanity's most profound acts of optimism.
Today, we are a small team of seven, a network of thirty artisan partners, and a community of thousands of gardeners who share our belief that slowness is not inefficiency — it is the only pace at which beautiful things can grow.
What We Stand For
Six principles that root everything we do
01
Provenance Over Convenience
We will always tell you where something comes from — the specific farm, the specific artisan, the specific tradition. Anonymized supply chains produce anonymized objects. We choose otherwise.
02
Beauty as a Moral Category
We believe that choosing beautiful things — slowly, deliberately, for the long term — is an ethical act. Beauty resists disposability. It demands that we care.
03
The Gardener's Patience
We do not optimize for speed. We grow slowly, cure slowly, ship only when something is ready. Our plants are never held under artificial light to hit a dispatch window.
04
Reciprocity with the Earth
One percent of all revenue is returned directly to seed-saving programs and native forest restoration in Odisha. This is not a marketing choice. It is a debt we acknowledge.
05
Knowledge as a Commons
Everything we learn about growing, tending, and preserving plant life is shared freely in our Field Journal, workshops, and open archive. Expertise hoarded dies with its owner.
06
Small & Intentional
We will never scale beyond what we can know personally. We know the name of every farmer we work with. We intend to keep it that way for as long as we exist.
The Cultivators
The people behind every plant and page
Meera Nair
Founder & Head Botanist
Former conservation botanist with the Odisha Biodiversity Board. Tends the rare Aglaonema collection on weekends and writes the journal's lead essay each quarter.
Arjun Das
Head of Sourcing
Travels between Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Assam three months a year. Has an uncanny ability to identify cultivars by leaf texture alone and speaks five languages of soil.
Priya Menon
Creative & Illustration
Botanical illustrator trained at Slade School of Fine Art. Her pencil studies of root systems have appeared in Nature and three monographs on Indian endemic flora.
Rohan Patel
Ceramics Partner Liaison
Spent four years at Auroville studying earth architecture. Curates all ceramic partnerships and runs our annual pottery residency in Raghurajpur.
A Brief History
The years that shaped us
2019
A Garden in Bhubaneswar
Meera Nair registers ECOGARDENNEST from her home in Bhubaneswar, beginning with a collection of 40 heritage varieties and a mailing list of 120 people. The first shipments are wrapped by hand at her kitchen table.
2020
The Lockdown Garden
When the world pauses, interest in plants explodes. ECOGARDENNEST's waiting list reaches 3,000. Meera makes the decision to keep the supply constrained — to grow only as fast as quality allows. It becomes the defining choice of the brand.
2021
The First Ceramic Partnership
A chance meeting at a craft fair in Puri leads to the partnership with potter Suresh Das. The first ash-glaze planters sell out in eleven minutes. A new chapter begins.
2022
The Gardener's Field Journal
Volume I of the quarterly journal launches with a print run of 800 copies. It sells out and wins the Indian Design Council's award for editorial design. Volume II expands to 3,500 copies.
2024
The Seed Library Opens
In partnership with three tribal farming communities in Koraput, we establish a living seed library preserving 200+ traditional crop varieties. Free access is provided to all member farmers.

Common Questions
Things people often ask
How are plants packaged for shipping?
Each plant is bare-rooted, wrapped in moist sphagnum moss, and secured in a breathable cotton sleeve inside a rigid cardboard box. Live plants are shipped only on Mondays and Tuesdays to avoid weekends in transit.
Can I visit the nursery?
Yes — our nursery in Bhubaneswar is open by appointment on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm. Please use the contact form to request a time slot. Visits are limited to six guests at once to preserve the garden's peace.
Do you ship outside India?
We currently ship within India only. International phytosanitary regulations make it very difficult to send live plants legally without compromising quality. We are working on a seeds-only international offering for 2026.
What if my plant arrives damaged?
Photograph the plant and packaging within 24 hours of receipt and email us. We will send a replacement at no charge. We have a 100% arrival guarantee on all living plants.
Do you offer bulk or wholesale orders?
We work with a small number of design studios, hotels, and botanical cafés. Wholesale inquiries should describe your space, the varieties you are interested in, and your timeline. We are selective but always open to a conversation.
How do I subscribe to the Field Journal?
Annual subscriptions (four issues) can be added at checkout or via the newsletter form. The journal ships within India only. Single back issues are available while stocks last.

Common Questions
Everything you wonder about shipping
Why do you ship plants only on Monday-Tuesday?
Plants are living things. Shipping them at the beginning of the week ensures they do not get stuck in a warehouse over the weekend. This reduces transit stress and keeps your plant healthy. Orders placed Wednesday-Sunday ship the following Monday.
What if my plant arrives damaged?
Take a clear photo of the plant and packaging within 24 hours of delivery. Email it to hello@ECOGARDENNEST.in. We will send a free replacement immediately — no return needed. This is our 100% Plant Health Guarantee.
Do you ship internationally?
Currently, we ship only within India. International phytosanitary regulations make it very difficult to ship live plants legally without compromising quality. We are working on a seeds-only international option for 2026.
Can I change my shipping address after ordering?
If your order has not been processed yet (within 2 hours of placing it), email us immediately. Once processed or shipped, we cannot change the address. Double-check your address before completing checkout.
How do I track my order?
A tracking link will be sent to your email and SMS once your order ships. You can also log into your account and view order status under "My Orders". Tracking updates may take 24 hours to appear after dispatch.
What happens if no one is home for delivery?
The courier will attempt delivery twice. If both attempts fail, the package will be returned to us. You will be responsible for reshipping charges. For live plants, we strongly recommend using a work address or having someone available to receive the package.
Are there shipping restrictions for extreme weather?
During heatwaves (above 38°C) or extreme cold (below 5°C) in your region, we may delay live plant shipments until temperatures moderate. We care more about your plant's health than meeting a shipping deadline. You will be notified by email if this occurs.
Do you offer free shipping?
Yes! Standard shipping is free on all orders above ₹2,500. Express shipping and live plant shipping are charged separately regardless of order value.
We respond to all shipping inquiries within 24 hours.

Common Questions
Everything you wonder about returns
Can I exchange an item instead of returning it?
Yes! For non-plant items, you can request an exchange within 14 days. Email us with your order number and the item you want instead. If the new item costs more, you pay the difference. If it costs less, we refund the difference.
What if my planter arrives cracked?
Take photos within 24 hours and email us. We will send a free replacement immediately. No need to return the cracked planter — you can use it for small cuttings or propagate succulents in it.
How long does a refund take?
Once your return is approved, refunds take 7-10 business days to appear on your statement. The timing depends on your bank or payment provider. We will notify you by email when the refund is initiated.
Who pays for return shipping?
For non-plant returns, the customer pays return shipping costs. For damaged or incorrect items (our error), we provide a free return label. For live plant damage, no return is needed — we send a replacement.
Can I return a plant that died after a few weeks?
Our guarantee covers arrival condition only (first 24 hours). If your plant dies after 2-3 weeks, it is likely due to care conditions (water, light, soil). We are happy to help you troubleshoot — email us photos and we will advise on saving it.
What about holiday returns?
Orders placed between 1 December and 31 December have an extended return window until 31 January. This applies to non-plant items only. Plant damage must still be reported within 24 hours of delivery.
Do you offer price adjustments?
If an item goes on sale within 7 days of your purchase, email us and we will refund the difference. This applies only to full-price items, not items already purchased on sale.
Can I return a gift?
Yes. If you received a ECOGARDENNEST item as a gift, email us with the order number (if you have it) or the recipient's name and address. We will issue a store credit for the value of the item.
